QA Engineer (Contract, Part-Time, Largely Remote) [17197]

A research company in Cambridge, MA is looking for a QA Engineer to join their team on a one-year contract. This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position with flexibility in hours/days. Work can be done remotely, however – interested applicants must be local and able to attend on-site meetings during typical work hours if needed.

  • Responsible for approving the company’s cloud-based data management and analysis PaaS products prior to launch and delivery
  • Review design specifications and anticipate and alert development team of potential problems
  • Assist in the definition, automation, documentation, and optimization of the build/release/deployment process
  • Create and execute test plans, scenarios, and cases for new features and functionality
  • Develop, evaluate, implement, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
  • Identify, analyze, and document defects discovered during testing, including detailing bug replication/verification steps, assigning severity, and determining overall impact to users
  • Constantly collaborate with cross-functional team (QA, software engineering, PM, professional services) to address functional and performance issues
  • Share expertise in automation and optimization, and make recommendations to reduce costs to the database and infrastructure
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in a quality assurance capacity on a Scrum or other Agile team for enterprise-level software solutions
  • Strong command over automated testing tools and frameworks (Selenium and QTP preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with other source control, bug tracking, performance monitoring, and reporting tools
  • Well-versed in cloud platforms and technologies, particularly Azure and AWS/EC2
  • Proven record of analytical and troubleshooting skills driven by a logical, methodical approach
